On January 4, 2021, BVCS alum Thomas Shanoss died suddenly in a tragic accident. Thomas attended BVCS for all of his schooling and graduated in 2005.
Both staff and students remember Thomas for his joy for life, his infectious sense of humour, and his warm heart. Thomas was a favorite amongst his classmates for his ability to lighten the mood, his kindness, and his authenticity.
In 2004, Thomas was the star of our school musical Pirates of Penzance. He shone in his role as the “Pirate King” and with a simple look or witty line brought the house down on multiple occasions. His warmth and energy made him perfect for the role and the crowds loved him.
Both during and after high school, Thomas expressed his desire to serve God. Life was not easy for Thomas and there were many obstacles and challenges along the way. There were many in our school and in the community who loved Thomas and tried to help him in whatever way they could. Those who worked with Thomas were always impacted positively by those interactions.
All those who crossed paths with Thomas at BVCS are filled with deep sadness at his passing. We are praying for Thomas’ family through the difficult days ahead. We remember that we serve a God who will one day “wipe away every tear.”
