Thank you so much for allowing your child(ren) to participate in Matilda this year! Thus far, we have learned all of the songs, practiced every scene, and have at least started choreography for most of the numbers in the show. We are so proud of the hard work and dedication many of them have shown thus far!
As we are getting closer to our performance dates, we thought it would be a good time to send out an email informing parents about our rehearsal schedule, so that you are aware when your child is required to attend extracurricular rehearsals.
The schedule is also posted in the Musical Theatre Google Classroom that your child has access to. Occasionally we will make changes to the schedule that you will be able to see in real time as it updates.
For the two weeks we have in March before spring break, we will have full cast rehearsals on Mondays, and all speaking parts on Wednesdays after school from 3-5pm.
After March break, rehearsals will be Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday from 3-5 for our full cast as our intention is to start rehearsing full Acts at a time so we can rehearse the transitions between scenes.
On April 19 (a professional development day), all cast and crew will be required to be at school for a full day rehearsal. We will work the show once, fixing and adjusting issues, and then try to run the show at least one time after that. We may be done before 3:00 if it’s going well, but plan on your child being here for the full school day.
On Friday, April 26, we move into the theatre, and will need several cast and crew members to help, but not all. On Saturday, April 27, we have rehearsal in the theatre, and the full cast and crew will be required to be there for the duration of our rehearsal from 8am-12:00pm.
Then we rehearse in the theatre the following week M, T, W from 4-6, and have a full dress rehearsal on Thursday from 5:30-9:30. The show will run Friday and Saturday the first weekend of May, and then Thursday, Friday, and Saturday the following weekend. Students will be expected to be at the theatre for call at 5:00.
Shows only run with full cast and crew participation and dedication, especially this close to our performance dates. Please make sure that your child is aware that this must be their extracurricular priority for the month of April and first two weeks of May.
