As a part of our bus service, BVCS is required to complete bus evacuation drills. Our first drill will be done on Thursday, January 9 immediately after school. Please be aware of the following information:
- Delay – routes will be delayed by the amount of time it takes to complete the drill. We anticipate that this will be about 20 minutes
- Content – this will essentially be practice of:
- orderly disembarking from the bus using emergency exits, gathering at safety site, head-counting
- radio training (designated high school students
- this will not be intensive: there will be no significant role-play and no simulated trauma
- Important – it’s important for as many bus riders as possible to attend these drills, since it will train them in the event of a bus emergency. Please do not pick up your child from school in order to avoid the safety drill.
As this is our first evacuation drill we will be holding this on the BVCS grounds. Future evacuation drills may arranged to be held off-site in order to include other schools (St Joe’s and Francophone school), but all parents and schools will be given plenty of advance warning.
