Several families have contacted us about the fact that our Christmas Concert (Thursday, December 15 at 7 pm) is taking place at the same time as Ebenezer Canadian Reformed School’s Christmas concert. We are aware of the overlap and we realize that this will put a number of families into the position of having to choose which concert to attend.
We have been aware of the conflict for some time (and have had it on our calendar since September), and we made a sincere effort to change our concert date. However, there are a number of moving parts to this and it proved to be not possible or practical. It’s a busy time of year…shifting the concert date to another evening brought additional scheduling conflicts for our school and for the facility. In the end, we felt that it was best to stick with the date chosen.
We share calendars with SD54, ECRS and Houston Christian in an effort to avoid scheduling conflicts like this. Despite pre-planning and calendar swaps, scheduling overlaps are not always avoidable or the sole responsibility of any one particular school.
While we cannot commit to this yet, we will look into the possibility of recording/live-streaming our Christmas concert. We realize this “isn’t the same”, but we hope it’s a step towards a solution.
The BVCS Christmas Concert is scheduled for Thursday, December 15 at 7 pm at the Smithers Christian Reformed Church. We look forward to welcoming you, and we wish ECRS and HCS both wonderful concerts and celebrations of the Messiah’s birth.
