BVCS is excited to be in relationship with Nanfayi Village School in a beautiful and remote part of Sierra Leone. Nanfayi village lies in north-central Sierra Leone and is home to approximately 1000 people. This village is actively working to develop their Christian school, and BVCS is excited to be involved in these efforts.
Sierra Leone’s recent history of civil war (1992 until it officially ended in 2002) left the country with deep losses: the destruction of schools and basic infrastructure continue to be keenly felt. The village has taken many initiatives to improve their infrastructure—particularly with securing a reliable clean water supply and developing their school.
Through our relationship, Bulkley Valley Christian School and Nafayi Christian School hope to see rich learning opportunities arise for students in both schools. While BVCS may have opportunities to help Nanfayi Christian School with teacher training, supplies and in other ways, Nanfayi Christian School can help BVCS students to expand their global perspectives on cultures, history and geography. Perhaps doors may open in the future whereby students from each school can visit one another’s communities. As this relationship grows over time, we trust that both school communities would be blessed as we seek ways in which to benefit one another in our task to cultivate Christ-following students.
