It is with heavy hearts that we inform the BVCS community of the death of BVCS parent Rachel Schipper (nee Wisselink) during the night of May 1, 2025. Her husband, Matt, has written the following:
There are many emotions that arise as I write this, though the strongest is the deep sadness and grief with which I share the news that Rach died overnight last night. She leaves behind a grieving husband and two children, extended family, and community that her life had such a profound impact on. Her nine-year struggle with a debilitating illness here on earth has come to an end, though we take comfort that she now begins the next leg of her journey in heaven, joining other family members who have gone on ahead of her. Still, for those she leaves behind, the easing of her great suffering does not diminish the great depth of her loss to all of us who continue along this earthy path. She is deeply loved and will be greatly missed. Details for an upcoming memorial will be passed along in the coming days as arrangements are made. Thank you all for your love, care, and support,
Rachel’s death leaves behind her husband Matt and her two children Anaya and Ezra (grade 5), as well as her extended family which includes many at BVCS: students, staff, alumni and board. As we grieve with and uphold this family in prayer, we will also look for practical ways in which we can serve and support them.
